Spandex reports ISO 9001 re-certification success
Sign-making and graphics materials supplier Spandex has announced it has achieved re-certification of ISO 9001:2008, in recognition of process standards and effectual quality management systems in its sales and distribution channels.
"Conformance to ISO 9001 quality assurance standards required the implementation of procedural changes, training and adjustments to operating systems in many aspects of our business," explains Phil McMullin, UK country manager of Bristol-based Spandex. "Our continuous improvement initiative in achieving this goal is due to the tremendous teamwork of everyone in the company. It underpins our customer-centric approach and ongoing improvement in the quality of service we deliver.
"A concrete example is that in the last two years we've improved our on-time, next-day delivery performance from 96 percent to 99.4 percent. This is a real benefit to our customers especially those in more remote locations who rely on us to turn around jobs quickly without carrying inventory themselves."
The audit for the re-certification of ISO 9001:2008 – one of the International Organization of Standardization's standards for the application of quality systems in operational procedures – was carried out by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance.
