East London's Excel will benefit from investment in the Olympics
Print trade fair Ipex will take place at the Excel centre in London in 2014, following a decision by its organiser, the Informa Print Group, to move the exhibition from its previous home of 30 years, the NEC in Birmingham. The plans have been welcomed by the mayor of London, Boris Johnson.
The new location will mark Ipex as a 'global event' and capitalise on the Excel's facilities, transport links and investment from the 2012 Olympics, says Informa.
Director Trevor Crawford comments: "While our UK audience will always remain critically important to the show, Ipex is a truly global event, and the attraction of London as a venue, and the remaining legacy of the 2012 Olympic investment into the area, will certainly add to the attraction for our international visitors."
Boris Johnson adds: "It's tremendous news for London, and certainly befitting to our Olympic legacy and standing on the international events stage that the 'Olympics of the global Printing Industry' returns home to our city."
