NFC allows purchasing capabilities to be incorporated into static displays
US company Identive has founded an online marketplace aimed at supplying near field communication (NFC) technology to applications developers and system integrators. The website offers educational resources such as webinars and webcasts as well as NFC products, says Identive, which may be helpful to graphics producers interested in incorporating the technology into their output.
The initial range includes pre-personalised NFC tags for local businesses which are participating in a smart poster campaign for the Google Places service, NFC readers to work with NFC tags in order facilitate applications such as transactions and services, and NFC software development kits.
"NFC is going to radically change how we communicate, get and use information and transact business by giving us the means to turn our smartphones into all-in-one mobile devices," says David Holmes, vice-president, Mobility and NFC at Identive. "The Identive NFC marketplace offers application developers, OEMs, infrastructure providers and end users the tools they need to create new solutions for the emerging NFC ecosystem."
