An independent sign-maker has created a social media presence to provide a new type of forum to British sign and display producers.
SignGeeks is both a Facebook page and a hashtag on Twitter (#SignGeeks) that sign-makers can use to discuss products and services, to seek advice on techniques and technologies, and create an online community, the creator explains.
"After the recent closure of one popular sign forum, I realised that there was an opportunity to create a new type of online community through social media," says José Ferreira, owner of JMF Signs in Eastleigh, Hampshire. "It's meant to be a relaxed, open environment where sign-makers can share the issues and successes of their work and point one another in the right direction if need be."
Sign and display businesses can also post photographs or videos of their own work, as well as any humorous signage they might have come across. Ferreira adds that a full website will be launched soon to explain advantages and rules to members.
