There's always something going on in the industry, from seminars and lectures to networking events and awards ceremonies. Please get in touch if you have an event to share.
Look out for round-ups of the 2012 shows for the sign and graphics sector and digital signage industry respectively, also by Morwenna Kearns, and a preview of the production print events by Laurel Brunner.
February 21st – 24th 2012, Barcelona, Spain
FESPA's dedicated show for the digital wide-format market will hit Barcelona with an estimated 370 exhibitors. The event intends to be 'ultimate display of evolutionary innovation' in the field, meaning demonstrations are likely to go beyond signage and graphics to encompass a vast range of applications.

Following a quick stop at FESPA Digital, HP is continuing the tour of its 16.5m-long customised lorry and trailer across Europe. Hands-on workshops, presentations and demos of machines and materials are offered at each stop.

A group of co-located shows covering the gamut of printing and packaging technologies, including a seminar programme and a brand summit.

March 1st – 3rd 2012, Miami, Florida, USA
GOA urges us to get 'printeractive' at this year's print trade show. Output's own Sophie Matthews-Paul will be hosting Wide Format Print Shop Live!, showcasing an end-to-end workflow, while there will also be The Wrap Center, the Vehicle Wrap Cup, the Direct-to-Garment Center and plenty of educational sessions, including some in Spanish.
March 6th – 9th 2012, Las Vegas, USA
DSE will return to Las Vegas from March 6th to 9th 2012 following a record-breaking 2011, where it's likely to attract a lot of interest from the international digital signage industry.
March 7th 2012, Bristol, UK
The new Epson SureColour SC30600 will get its first showing at Spandex's next open house event, along with products from Durst, swissQprint, Gerber, 3M, Mactac, ImagePerfect and Avery Dennison.
March 22nd and April 19th 2012, London, UK
With wide-format trade fair Ipex moving to its new home at the Excel in London in 2014, the show's organiser is offering tours of the venue to see its facilities while other exhibitions are going on.
ISA International Sign Expo 2012
March 22nd – 24th 2012, Orlando, USA
The ISA Sign Expo prides itself on its variety of sign and digital imaging products, educational sessions and networking opportunities – and its help in maximising its visitors' time.
March 27th – 29th 2012, Birmingham, UK
After a successful 2011 edition, it's been announced that the 2012 Sign and Digital UK will return in March.
Sign and Digital UK Awards and Networking Event
March 28th 2012, Solihull, UK
The second night of the Sign and Digital UK trade show will feature the now annual awards ceremony and networking event, this time hosted by comedian Seann Walsh.
Customer Engagement Technology World (CETW)
March 28th – 29th 2012, San Francisco, USA
A show focusing on how to grab consumers' attention, featuring a huge amount of digital signage, kiosks, social media connectivity and business strategies. Conferences will be held throughout the two days.
May 3rd – 16th 2012, Düsseldorf, Germany
Grabbing the baton from 2010's Ipex is the other print fair behemoth: drupa. The German show is so big it even has its own theme song, as well as plenty for the wide-format market.

The ESMA Screen City pavilion at 2012's mega-show drupa will include this day of symposiums on functional printing, with discussions on how it is used in various industries such as electronics.

The four-part annual NBM Show is designed to help attendees grow their businesses in the markets of signs and digital graphics, awards and engraving, and printed apparel. To this end, each event features an Education Conference.

Screenmedia Expo returns in 2012 with more place-based technology showcases and presentations on how it can work with marketing campaigns.

June 6th – 9th 2012, Athens, Greece
Part of labelling association FINAT's events calendar, the annual congress will be on the subject of 'Sustainable labelling – now is your chance'.
Kiosk Europe Expo and Digital Signage Expo 2012
June 12th – 13th 2012, Berlin, Germany
After five years in Essen, this double act for the European digital signage and self-service market is relocating to Berlin in 2012. The 2011 show was said to be a success, with a number of exhibitors returning with larger stands next time.

July 11th 2012, London, UK
The winners of this contest, recognising young people in the print industry, will receive their awards at a ceremony at the House of Lords. The deadline for entries is May 31st.
September 3rd – 4th 2012, London, UK
A new show for a range of media professionals from the team behind Ipex, aimed at demonstrating the links between print, video, social media, and a host of other disciplines.
Screen Print India 2012
September 5th – 7th 2012, Mumbai, India
Output's content partner Specialist Printing Worldwide is a supporter of this show, which covers textiles and digital printing as well as, of course, screen-printing.
September 18th – 20th 2012, Birmingham, UK
A brand new digital print show from the organiser of Sign and Digital UK, that aims to be a business opportunity as much as a place to see new kit.
September 20th – 22nd 2012, Mexico City, Mexico
Half of the floor space for FESPA's Mexico show was filled back in September 2011 so it's expected to be a busy one, with environmental products predicted to be a talking point.

September 25th – 27th 2012, Paris, France
The French leg of the Viscom trade shows will return to its new home just outside the city. It'll have an urban edge though, with an expected repeat of the Imag'in the City demonstration space.
September 26th – 27th 2012, Berlin, Germany
A new trade show that 'focuses on good, sustainable business', launched by Frazer Chesterman and Marcus Timson following their exit from FESPA. It's expected to cover a range of printing applications from interiors to packaging.
October 4th – 6th 2012, Milan, Italy
The Italian Viscom show will include a range of exhibitors, kit and applications from the wide-format print, sign-making, digital signage and production print markets – in short, the visual communications sector.
October 18th – 20th 2012, Las Vegas, USA
The Specialty Printing and Imaging Technology Association's trade show will return in October to present more technology showcases and educational offerings to the North American graphics market.
October 18th – 20th 2012, Madrid, Spain
As the name suggests, the Spanish edition of the four-part Viscom programme has an emphasis on signs, but all pockets of the visual communications sector will be represented.
Sign and Digital Ireland 2012, Print Ireland 2012
October 24th – 25th 2012, Dublin, Ireland
The Irish graphics market can enjoy two shows in one in Dublin in 2012. It's been a while since the last Sign and Digital Ireland and Print Ireland combo in 2009, so it'll be interesting to see how the market has changed.

October 25th – 27th 2012, Frankfurt, Germany
Viscom's German show takes a turn in Frankfurt after a successful 2011 event in Düsseldorf. It will once again include Digital Signage World and the Viscom Awards, recognising exciting projects from across the visual communications field.
Labelexpo India
October 29th – November 1st 2012, New Delhi, India
Attendance at the 2010 show was up by over a quarter compared to 2008, which may be a sign of a growing market in India that could be in printers' best interest to explore.
November 15th – 16th 2012, London, UK
An event aimed at gathering the wide-format industry together for sharing ideas and forging relationships.

November 28th – 30th 2012, Berlin, Germany
Self-adhesive labelling industry association FINAT will encourage members of its Young Managers Club (YMC) to 'challenge the future!' at the 2012 world congress.
Integrated Systems Europe
January 29th – 30th 2013, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
A show dedicated to the AV and electronics systems industry, including digital signage integrators. The 2012 show was the biggest yet so the pressure's on for 2013.
FESPA Brasil 2013, ExpoPrint Digital 2013
March 13th – 16th 2013, São Paulo, Brazil
Wide-format organisation FESPA has teamed up with ExpoPrint Digital to create double the content in São Paulo.

The big FESPA show comes to the UK in 2013, with a host of international companies among the British exhibitors taking the opportunity to reach the wide-format and textile printing industry.

After a return to form in 2011, Northprint will be back in 2013 with more for the UK printing industry.
February 16th – 20th 2014, Düsseldorf, Germany
EuroShop covers the whole retail market, including shopfitting, POS equipment and displays, so it's a great place to catch up with the latest trends and developments.
March 26th – April 2nd 2014, London, UK
Ipex will leave its former home of the NEC behind for a new era at the Excel in London in 2014. How this will affect the show remains to be seen, but expect the usual hotbed of wide-format print technology releases and demos.
