The Media Centre in Huddersfield was lit up as part of the winter festival
The possibilities for architectural lighting were demonstrated in Huddersfield recently, when The Media Centre in the town was the canvas for an illumination by James Bawn using PixelRange technology.
The project was part of the annual winter event organised by Kirklees council, which took place in December and also included street theatre. Bawn, usually of AC Entertainment Technologies, designed the installation and used 84 PixelRange PixelLine 1044 LED batons and a Green Hippo Hippotizer HD to achieve it.
The PixelLine 1044 batons were installed on the gantries within the inside of building where they could 'upwash' framed window areas and focus towards the interior, and produce a 'softer, more diffused finished image' rather than hide the source.
"I knew exactly what I wanted to use for the installation to make the best impact available," says Bawn. "The PixelRange PixelLines and the Hippotizer HD proved me right – and the PixelLines just suited the job perfectly. The depth of colour from PixelRange fixtures is second to none."
