The Ideal 5222 Digicut 520cm hydraulic guillotine was released by Duplo International three years ago
Print finishing equipment company Duplo International has sold its 50th Ideal 5222 Digicut 520cm hydraulic guillotine in the UK to the Print Teaching department at the City of Glasgow College, three years after launching the machine to the digital print and copyshop market.
The college bought the guillotine from its local dealer, Well Finished, and will use it primarily for post-press work such as finishing swatch books and booklets that are produced by students.
"We needed a new guillotine because ours was over 20 years old and the repairs were running into thousands of pounds a year," explains David Stevenson, senior print technician at the college. "We needed something that was accurate, reliable, came with a range of professional features but that wouldn't break the bank."
Ideal 5222 Digicut 520cm hydraulic guillotine features hydraulic clamping, a design aimed at conserving space, and is easy to use, says Duplo.
The City of Glasgow College's Print Teaching department provide services to around 200 students each year, completing courses such as an NQ in screen-printing, and HNC and HND courses in creative print making and digital media.
