Delphax Technologies will present a new digital printing system, powered by Memjet technologies, at this May's drupa print trade show. Delphax has emphasised the elan system's efficiency and versatility for print companies in the industrial and commercial markets.
Dieter Schilling, president and chief executive of Delphax, comments on the elan system: "We have developed a revolutionary sheet-fed transport technology and integrated this with multiple Memjet print-heads to provide a unique high-resolution, high-quality and high-speed ink-jet printing system."
The elan system is capable of production speeds of up to 500 full-colour impressions per minute at 1,600dpi on a variety of substrates and sizes, thanks to more than 70,000 ink nozzles on each Memjet print-head together delivering up to 700m drops of ink per second.
"There is nothing approaching this performance in the market today," adds Schilling.
Delphax has identified commercial print-on-demand applications including transpromo, direct mail, bills, security printing, and book and manual publishing for elan.
