Brazil-based internet photo print company Digipix is to launch a commercial cut photo print service using a web-fed HP Indigo WS6000p digital press, replacing the silver halide process it previously used for the production of 100 x 150mm prints. Called Ecopix, the service was showcased at drupa and is thought to be the first in the world.
The HP Indigo WS6000p is a six-colour digital press featuring light cyan and light magenta inks, and can produce 4,800 203 x 254mm or over 25,000 100 x 150mm prints per hour. Digipix combines it with a GMP Lamimaster-34 in-line laminator.
