The SmartStacker is designed for digital print finishing

Horizon International has launched the new SmartStacker, a system designed to convert digitally-printed B2 sheets into sets, individual sheets or book blocks, ready for processing further down the workflow automatically and without guillotines, folders or gatherers.

Developed to work with the HP Indigo 10000 digital B2 printer, the SmartStacker offers a production speed of 4,500 B2 sph. It registers and slits a maximum of seven sections in one direction and four in the other, complete with gutters or bleed, resulting in 28 pages or sub-sheets before collating them into the correct sequence.

"With B2 digital printing now a commercial reality it is vital that print operations have finishing solutions that ensure their high quality, fast turnaround print is completed efficiently and on time," comments Bryan Godwyn, joint managing director of Horizon distributor IFS.

"SmartStacker removes labour and touch-points and improves efficiency. It also moves the business argument on from simple cost-per-page to cost per finished document."
