Paul Johnston-Knight says Papico is 'extremely proud' to support Lenzing Papier in its recycling initiative development
Papico has announced it is supporting an initiative launched by Austria's Lenzing Papier aimed at recovering and recycling siliconised backing paper used in consumer labelling.
Lenzing Papier, working with specialist paper recycling company Cycle4Green, is developing a closed-loop Europe-based recycling system for release paper liner material.
The three stages of the project include collection programmes for release liner end users including label printers, central warehousing and transport to Lenzing Papier's recycling facility, and the de-siliconising and processing of the fibre for use in papermaking.
"Developing ways to recycle products that were previously difficult to process is the way forward for the future of the labelling industry," says Paul Johnston-Knight, director of UK paper agency Papico. "These types of products are far more attractive to users because they will no longer need to end up in landfill.
"We are extremely proud to be representing Lenzing Papier during this important part of its progress in developing innovative recycling procedures."
