Mark Stephenson shows what can be done with print at the Shine 2012 School Media Awards
Around 100 students discovered new facts about the potential of print from Fujifilm, during the Shine 2012 School Media Awards.
Four 15-minute talks were delivered by Fujifilm sales manager Mark Stephenson, during which he imparted 52 things you can't do on an iPad but can do in print – including wrapping your teacher, which was demonstrated with a giant roll of paper. The facts were printed onto decks of playing cards, finished by Sheffield-based Rollem, and given to the students along with other 'print-related treats'.
"We got involved because we want to help children understand different media platforms and give them some insight into the printing industry, so I decided to do something creative," comments Stephenson. "I guess I am a children's entertainer at heart."
Fujifilm highlights the common goals of the Shine scheme and educational programme PrintIT!, which the company sponsors. Both aim to make the print industry, and careers within it, attractive to young people.
