In a move that signals further consolidation within the print market, Komori and Screen have announced a joint sales strategy that will see their US operations 'effectively joined'.

The Screen Truepress Jet520HD – a continuous feed ink-jet web press announced in September last year – is now available from Komori America as its sole distributor. It is not yet clear what Komori products Screen will sell, but it is conceivable that the companies are seeking to target analogue-to-digital transition environments, or those that are already hybrid, with the move.

"By joining our US sales teams we will have double the workforce to take both Komori's offset and Screen GP's digital products to the marketplace," explains Eiji Kajita, director and operating officer of Komori Corporation. "But, more importantly, we know our customers will benefit from the combined expertise of our two teams."

Katsuhiko Aoki, Screen Graphic and Precision Solutions group president, adds that 'it just makes good business sense' for the two Japanese-headquartered printer manufacturers to ally in the USA in this way.
