PrintIt programme for 2015 launched at London Calling
The initiative for promoting print and paper in schools offers students a chance to gain hands-on experience with print, as well as learn about potential careers, apprenticeships and training offered by the sector. Following a review, the programme will undergo changes to focus more heavily on developing awareness of print as a career option.
"With so many young people missing out on the exciting job options available and left struggling to make informed choices about available careers, Proskills's PrintIt programme not only allows young people to experience the print industry, but also helps them access jobs and apprenticeship in the industry," states Jonathan Ledger, managing director at Proskills UK. "I'm especially grateful to the fantastic team at Duplo for all their support for PrintIt, and to the wider industry in helping us realise the ambitions of so many young people. Our efforts today provide the foundation for tomorrow's print employees."
The London Calling partners have pledged to support the charity via a year-long fundraising initiative called PassIt, whereby each exhibitor at the event will spend a month raising money for, and promoting, the campaign. The first company to take on the responsibility will be Optimus, which will raise money throughout December.
