Editor's note [spacer line]

[EFI] [Morwenna Kearns, editor]

Welcome to our second year of Output newsletters, with a bit of a change as we now offer a dedicated digital signage newsletter alongside our weekly round-up from the whole magazine. Although we still think digital signage and more established display media have a unified future, electronic methods have forged a more independent path in certain markets. This was put in perspective last week when I was on the judging panel for the Sign and Digital UK Awards and saw some incredibly creative and forward-thinking projects from wide-format printers and sign-makers, but very few that integrated digital signage. Meanwhile, at London Fashion Week, digital is very much a part of proceedings in terms of communicating up-to-the-minute information with billboards and Underground projection screens displaying live content from the shows. It'll be interesting to see if this trend continues. We'll still be bringing you a taster of our favourite items from the whole of Output in both newsletters, but if you'd like a fuller display industry digest please do sign up for both on our homepage.

FESPA Digital

FESPA kicks off tomorrow with a host of events planned for the four days, alongside heaps of product launches and showcases – which you can follow on our dedicated FESPA Digital 2012 tags page. Output will be well represented on the educational schedule: Mrs Ink-Jet herself Sophie Matthews-Paul will be a host of the Print Shop Live real-life workflow demonstration area, while our pre-press expert Laurel Brunner will offer advice on sustainable practices in the Planet Friendly Printing Zone. Each of these events will run throughout the show, but are expected to be popular so make sure you get there early. James Matthews-Paul will also be getting all the news as it happens so if you see him, let him know what you're up to at the show.

Sneak preview: Epson SureColour S30600 from GPT

Another exclusive video from Output's own fair hands, this time giving you a little look at the new Epson SureColour S30600 wide-format printer before it's launched officially at FESPA Digital this week. James Matthews-Paul went along to the preview of the machine at Graphic Printing Technologies's demo centre in Reading to see it in action and gauge the reaction of visitors. It looks like a hit, so it'll be interesting to see its effect in Barcelona tomorrow.

Output's YouTube channel has lots more videos of our own making plus our favourite from the industry – why not have a look?
