Along with London Fashion Week, the capital is going a little bit shopping mad at the moment, it seems. The vast Westfield Stratford City in east London opened last week, revealing the country's largest digital advertising portfolio courtesy of CBS Outdoor, plus a host of other extensive and creative display projects. The details behind some are still under wraps to the press, but when they're all revealed we'll be sure to let you know – it'll be a great showcase for sign-makers from London and farther afield. In the meantime, Fashion Week continues, so don't forget to post your photos on our Outputting Tumblr page if you see any wild and wonderful graphics.

Last week, we asked our experts:

What's the difference between input and output profiles?

[Laurel Brunner]

"The output of one process can be the input to another, but in a colour managed workflow there is a clear difference in what is meant by input and output profiles."

[Sophie Matthews-Paul]

"The intention is that the colour which goes in at the front end of a job being created actually comes out of the other end as expected. It sounds simple enough, but it isn't."

Osaka Station City clepsydra

This video was spotted on the blog of Rise Vision's Paul Flanigan by our old friend James van Etten, and it's certainly worth a look. While essentially an updated clepsydra – or water-powered time-telling device – this display at north Osaka's main railway station in Japan is a fascinating demonstration of how a combination of modern technology and old ideas can prove both informative and beautiful. The children halfway through can certainly testify to its effectiveness.

Don't forget there's a whole range of interesting videos showing off the best of our industry on Output's own YouTube channel – http://www.youtube.com/user/OutputMagazine. We've been busy making more of our own too, so watch out for those.
