Submission guidelines for editorial
In addition to press releases (to be emailed to ), Output welcomes news, product profiles, bylined features and opinion pieces from anyone in the industry on any relevant topic. If you have details on a recent project, or want to have your say, please get in touch.
For news, we require the basic details on the project, scheme, achievement, etc., i.e. who, what, where, when, plus quote from the company or organisation involved. We also require an appropriate and legally permitted image (minimum 300dpi, jpeg). The information will be edited into an article by the Output news team. We never publish press releases verbatim.
Bylined blogs, opinion pieces and product profiles will be accepted if in a publishable state and no more than 500 words. Output reserves the right to edit these pieces to meet house style and other editorial requirements, in particular objectivity and legality. They should also be accompanied by an appropriate and legally permitted image (300dpi min, jpeg).
Contributions for the Talk Print! section are welcomed and are treated in the same way as other bylined blogs and opinion pieces.
As part of the product profiles section, the Output editorial team also produces road tests, which are reviews of equipment, software, services, events or training courses. If you would like to suggest a product for the team to review please contact .
We accept videos for the Output YouTube channel and photographs for the Outputting Tumblr page, if they meet editorial stipulations concerning objectivity and legality. Please contact with submissions.
Bylined features need to meet the same requirements as bylined blogs, opinion pieces and product profiles but must not exceed 700 words. Longer articles may be considered but may be split into two or more parts to be published separately.
We also welcome contributions (for example comment, photographs, details on products or projects) for scheduled features written by the Output team; please see the provisional forward features list. Note this is subject to change. Please contact in the first instance.
We will not consider complete articles that have already been published in print or online, but may edit such pieces to produce unique content at our discretion.
Please note that due to the huge volume of editorial material that we receive and publish, the best way to contact the Output team is via email, at (or for press releases). We will be in touch, by email in the first instance, if we require more information. We are unlikely, for this reason, to acknowledge receipt of press releases, or to inform companies when their news piece has been published.
