The Out-of-home Video Advertising Bureau Europe (OVAB) built upon its recent expansion into the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region with a Dubai-based networking event held last week. The forum, which took place to develop standard practices for the digital signage sector across MENA and to bolster awareness of the the region's growing market, also offered opportunities for collaboration between companies.
Florian Rotberg, speaking on behalf of OVAB, explains: "Our discussions reinforced the genuine need for a unified framework, including formalised media standards and effective measurement and reporting that are essential to transform the DOOH market in the region."
According to OVAB, issues tackled included the top three challenges facing the industry today, the growth factors surrounding the MENA DOOH market, and the kinds of advertising consumers may expect to see in the future. Industry players from more than 50 firms, including JCDecaux, 3M, Rotana Media Services and Abu Dhabi Media DOOH, took part in the event.
Andrew Wood, general manager of Al Barq Digital, which is an OVAB member, notes: "We are confident OVAB's presence in the region will strengthen our industry and contribute to promoting a better understanding of the sector."
