POVng (Point of View next generation) is the flagship content management and scheduling software of UK-based digital signage provider, Dynamax. The product has been used throughout the years by major organisations such as Clear Channel and JCDecaux, and more recently by the NEC in Birmingham.
POVng is the ideal way to reach information-hungry audiences, says Dynamax. It takes static signs and posters to the next level, allowing the creation of screen networks that can show timely messages that are relevant to viewers' demographics, interests and behaviour.
As an on-premise digital signage software, it offers enhanced data security and full control over the information displayed, having been largely used for running advertising networks. POVng is a proven solution tested in environments where 24-hour availability is critical and any downtime costs money.
It supports a wide selection of media files (such as MPEG1/2, AVI, SWF and JPG) and feed types (like XML, flat file manipulation) and can be integrated with POS data for sales uplift measurement. The software has many other features to facilitate the easy management of large screen networks, such as a rules-based playlist system that can utilise 'attractors' and 'repulsors' when creating playlists automatically. For example, an advertisement for a vehicle can be set to not play next to an advertisement for alcohol.
POVng also supports synchronised screens for applications where content appears to move from one display to another, and supports event-based content through a player API. Thus a fire alarm system could trigger the appropriate message on the screen during times of an evacuation, reverting back to the scheduled playlist once the emergency event is over.
The system can input and output control commands to connected display screens. Themes, wallpapers and templates are supplied to assist content creation and aggregation.
An enterprise grade digital signage application, based on Microsoft.Net web services and SQL, POVng is built to support an n-tier architecture which lends itself to massively scalable networks, being able to run an unlimited number of screens and media players.
It runs on Windows operating systems including XP, Windows 7, and Windows Server. All POVng software upgrades and version updates can be automatically distributed and installed on individual media players. It operates over any TCP/IP-based network on a user-defined 'Pull' or 'Push' data transfer model. The distribution of data can be centrally managed and scheduled for optimum usage of available bandwidth.
Compatible with all types of digital displays from small LCDs through to plasma and large format LED screens, POVng is powerful, scalable, and intuitive to use.
POVng has been selected to power the newly launched bus shelter displays network at the NEC in Birmingham. David Hart, project manager at the NEC, commented on the product: "Dynamax's open approach to linking technologies together, such as XML and Flash, means we now have the flexibility to update the bus times, locations and visitor information simultaneously, resulting in an enhanced experience for our customers."
The software is available internationally.
