3M GTG describes the MetaTwistTower as 'a Swiss Army Knife of a digital billboard'

Digital technology division 3M GTG has revealed the MetaTwistTower, described as 'a new generation of billboard'. The 10.6m high triangular tower, featuring a rotating and revolving LED surface covering 41sq m, was developed for the Munich Airport Centre (MAC) Forum to mark the German airport's 20th anniversary.

The three layers of the MetaTwistTower each have three LED panels fitted on rotating and folding mechanisms, totalling nine connected elements that can be altered to form landscape, portrait and square formats. The user can switch between orientations and synchronise the display's movement with advertising content to communicate with the space's audience.

The designer explains that the 'classic' digital billboard approach was 'redefined' to meet the demands of the MAC Forum – the largest outdoor space for business, shopping and recreation in Europe, covering 10,000sq m with a 40m-high glass roof – and considered 'the venue's spatial arrangement, ambience and uniqueness'.

The MetaTwistTower made its debut during a four-day event celebrating Munich Airport‘s 20th anniversary.
