HP has used the National Retail Federation convention, held in New York this week, to introduce a number of new products designed to help retailers target customers. The new range includes digital signage hardware and software.
In addition to the HP Imaging Barcode Scanner, which can read barcodes on mobile devices, convention delegates saw the new HP LD4201, LD4210 and LD4710 LCD digital signage displays. The products range from 107 to 119cm (42 to 47") diagonally and are embedded with HP Media Sign Player technology.
'On the fly' HD content is enabled by the included HP Network Sign Manager software, allowing changes from a single source via the network, and the displays also feature an Ethernet port. Scaler technology is also included, which allows 'daisy chains' of up to 25 displays for video wall creation.
Also launched at the event was an independent software vendor (ISV) programme for large retailers.
"Customers are increasingly sophisticated, and HP's new solutions provide retailers with efficient and compelling ways to engage customers throughout their entire shopping experience – from home, on the go and in the store," says Ray Carlin, vice-president, Retail Solutions Global Business Unit, HP.
