The digital signage was designed to mimic the touchscreen technology included in the product it promotes
Navigation and communications systems company Garmin has commented on an interactive digital signage solution it deployed recently, which uses its own software on an AOpen DE7000 Digital Engine and a Philips BDL4225 LCD display with interactive transparent touch-foil. AOpen distributor Adissy advised Garmin on the solution's technical specifications.
The signage was installed in the window of one of its shops in Moscow, Russia, and includes touch functionality that 'perfectly mimics' the Garmin product it advertises, allowing passersby to experience its interface.
"Interactive solutions are ideal for drawing attention to our products," says Eugene Dobrynin, director of retail at Garmin.
Garmin also explains that the 'state-of-the-art technology' used in the digital signage solution is aimed at boosting brand awareness and consumers' opinions of the company's products.
The project, deployed in the Eurocenter shopping mall in Moscow, is a pilot which may be followed by others 'after a successful evaluation', says AOpen.
