The digital signage and kiosk combination has been deployed in 18 branches of Big Y, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year
A US supermarket chain has begun the initial deployment of kiosks from NCR, which the technology company says demonstrates the combination of self-service with in-store digital advertising in one platform.
Kiosks with NCR Netkey management software, featuring a deli product ordering application, have been installed at 18 Big Y branches in New England. The software allows in-store advertising to be tied up with the self-service application, for instance digital advertising can be used to promote a company's frequent shopper scheme which customers can then join via the kiosks.
"Grocers can use the NCR Netkey deli ordering application as part of an integrated loyalty programme, in a converged retailing – or c-tailing – manner, to deliver targeted offers to consumers and simplify ordering for loyalty card members based on their previous purchases, saving valuable time and improving the shopping experience," says NCR Netkey kiosk and digital signage solutions general manager Dusty Lutz.
NCR states that all future Big Y branches will feature the combined NCR kiosk software and hardware product.
