London's King's Cross station is to open with new DOOH sites from JCDecaux

Media owner JCDecaux has announced a 'vision for the future of rail advertising' involving the deployment of digital out-of-home advertising sites in key London railway stations and across the UK.

The company says it will expand its portfolio of digital six-sheets by 60 percent this year with new sites in Newcastle, York, London Marylebone, Manchester Piccadilly, Glasgow Central, Leeds, Guildford, Kingston and Tunbridge Wells stations. JCDecaux will also extend and upgrade its Transvision network.

A media space will be revealed this month at London's King's Cross, with two Transvision screens and digital six-sheets installed at the station's new Western Concourse featuring a glass canopy and retail area. Two Transvision screens, working in tandem, and new digital six-sheets will also form part of London Waterloo's new 20,000sq ft (1,858sq m) retail space, and the revamped Cannon Street will include large- and small-format digital screens, back-lit sites and wall wraps.

In addition, 'Immersion Zones' will be made available at Stratford Regional, Euston, Victoria, St Pancras and Waterloo, which will allow advertisers to 'own' part of passengers' journeys with giant wall wraps and floor media alongside digital signage.
