Icon:MEI's campaign for Aviva involves projecting photographs and word art images onto the side of the National Theatre
Icon:MEI, the event production division of Icon, has rolled out the second phase of an out-of-home advertising campaign for insurance company Aviva, which sees giant images of the public projected onto the exterior of the National Theatre in London, UK. The first stage of the campaign, called 'You are the Big Picture', took place in 2010.
Images are captured by a high-definition camera system designed and installed by Icon:MEI, before sending them to a database. From this, people taking part in the campaign via Facebook can download copies of their images, while a live web-stream of the projected images is also shown on YouTube. Icon:MEI explains that 'real' images of the participants will be shown for six seconds and then fade into a 'word art' image.
"All images will be captured at a higher resolution than last year," states Chris Savage, Icon:MEI's technical director. "With each individual having two images and the event running for ten nights, we are clearly handling considerable amounts of data."
