KPN's digital revamp features more than 500 screens over 105 stores
Telecommunications company KPN has commented on the digital overhaul of 105 of its Netherlands retail sites using Scala products. QYN, a Scala certified partner, was first approached in 2008 by KPN with a view to designing a digital environment capable of supporting the company's advertising and communication requirements. The result is a 500-plus-display network.
"Scala has proven to be the most versatile and stable software in the digital signage arena," enthuses Ton van Hout, strategic account manager at Scala. "The A-grade features of the Scala solution fit perfectly to the high requirements of the state-of-the-art digital solution within the KPN stores."
Each shop features a number of touchscreens incorporated into point-of-sale desks, through which consumers can access product information. Sites also have a portrait-orientated panel in their windows to entice potential customers into the store. Content includes relevant sales promotions, different payment schemes available on each mobile device and information on phone features.
Three displays are located at the back of each retail site, showing short content loops and 'relaxing images', Scala states. A pair of interactive kiosks has also been deployed in every store, which deliver internet- and television-based material.
