The Highways Agency's 'Make time for winter' campaign urges motorists to be informed and aware during bad weather
The Highways Agency is using portable variable message signs on motorways and trunk roads in the West Midlands this winter, informing drivers of incidents, events and diversions, as well as the agency's seasonal 'Make time for winter' campaign.
"The signs have been deployed at locations where traffic volumes are high and where it is not possible to have permanent variable message signs to allow us to engage with road users," says Frank Bird, Highways Agency emergency planning manager for the West Midlands.
"The signs will help keep drivers informed and manage traffic flows so that the network keeps moving."
