Dorsey Digital Media hopes it will improve the experience of shoppers with its Digital Mall Directory
A Canadian mall has become the first location to have a Digital Mall Directory from Dorsey Digital Media, co-developed with Vertical Digital Displays, installed. The double-sided digital out-of-home (DOOH) solution consists of two 70" LCD screens – with anti-glare safety glass, networkable media players and a patent-pending DACS cooling system.
One screen features a directory and map for the shopping centre, whilst the other side features marketing messages and mall information. The system, which is run on an XP-based software platform, includes a content management feature which enables swift updates to mall and directory information.
"This is a game-changer for mall operators," says Stephen Dorsey, chief executive and chief creative officer at Dorsey Digital Media. "Moving from static directories to a 21st-century digital media platform will offer mall operators greater flexibility on how they communicate with shoppers in a more timely and targeted manner. This solution will make it easier for malls to go digital with a fully integrated system that can help them enhance the customer experience and shopping environment."
"We are proud that Vertigo's innovative digital display design capabilities and products contributed to bringing the Digital Mall Directory to life," adds Ralph Idems, chief operational officer, Vertigo Digital Displays. "We're excited to be partnered with Dorsey Digital Media and look forward to working closely with their team to bring the digital mall directory system to malls across North America."
