To update the informational displays in its headquarters, SAS installed Christie videowalls in its briefing centre

Business intelligence and data analytics firm SAS has installed a network of large-format display videowalls in its North Carolina, USA headquarters using hardware developed by visual technology company Christie.

The installation comprises four projectors and 197 Christie MicroTiles screens, spanning five walls. The set-up is powered by Christie's Spyder X20 video processors which enable remote content control.

"The showcase display is the 40'-long [12m] Welcome Wall (28 MicroTiles wide by four MicroTiles high), which becomes the backdrop for our registration area. We also have the Future Wall (twelve MicroTiles wide by three MicroTiles high) displaying current and upcoming events," says SAS senior manager of engineering operations, Woody Weaver.

"MicroTiles, with their 1mm bezel between each tile, provide a virtually seamless wall with the flexibility to build almost any configuration."

Along with the installation's size, versatility and function, SAS has been pleased with the durability and range of applications they've been able to implement with the set-up, says Christie.

"We often send content from our auditoriums and meeting rooms to the Executive Wall, so others can watch the presentations," adds Weaver. "Even with a skylight overhead, the MicroTiles still look good. Next, we're implementing a touchscreen application using infrared sensors."
